All of Those Nights
03:13
|
|||
you push the back of my head into the bed so i can barely breathe
when you let go
the gasp for air gets me so high and keeps me coming back for more
all of those nights of human
turned us into devils and angels
and it's a midnight city now
and we're all beggars
begging for the chance to feel this world together

Our Walls
03:31
|
|||
all we need is the light of the moon to grow so tall
all we need is the soil from the only earth we'll ever know
arms in cradles dropped off by the babies, it's time now
let the waves wash you away
your beauty in the blue light of morning made it so clear
two voyagers on the sea
this is the land the sunset washes
these are the banks of the yellow sea
this is the shade from the trees that shadow us in their mystery
smile now as our world we create, just you and me
our walls disappear, the floor fades away (3x)
so we jump from clouds we once thought we'd fall through
and swim to the bottoms of lakes we once were taught not to do
with nowhere for our feet to stand
we play our game in your little plant land
with nowhere for our feet to stand
we play our game in your little plant land

The Swim
03:24
|
|||
our feet are running so fast on the dock
we'll surely fall and never come back
these waves are choking my ankles and tears
and i know now i really can't stay
you told me then but i already knew
cuz i could hear it in the tides and see it in your eyes too
oh in your eyes too
we washed our hands clean and hung out our findings of the day to dry
on the horizon for everyone to see
for everyone to see
diving forward in the freezing lake
i held your hand and we held our breath
the things we said were not important
so we try for it just like we should
but can't you catch your breath?
isn't it your turn to say what happens next?
what happens next?
we orphaned our melodies
to lie here silly sideways
searching for prettier boys and the finer things
oh those finer things
we swam out so far we couldn't see the land anymore
the sun is down and it's so dark
i can't see your face anymore
we went out so far we didn't know where we came from
the sun is down and it's so dark
i can't see your face anymore
have you ever seen the moon
when it looks so backwards in the sky
have you ever seen the moon
when it looks so backwards in the sky
like tonight

Smile
03:58
|
|||
isn't falling supposed to feel kinda good
i run to you even though i know i shouldn't
and i bet you're wearing that shirt that i like
that reminds me of christmas
and snowfall under yellow light
lately i've been waking up on too many rainy days
in this desperate, oh how much i miss you, i hate this phase
and i'm wearing that shirt that you like
with that weird raccoon fox guy who has the fancy big blue eyes
and i know i don't own you and i know we're not together
and probably never really were in the way you would ever see it
but the space is so big and i ask only one thing
will you smile when you remember me
i knew it was bound to happen one day
if i didn't fight for you then you'd get carried away
and now she's wearing a dress that you like
and it makes you feel the same way
as the night with the fireflies
when we woke up early and the fog covered the pond
and the lights were all twinkling
and we could still hear the frogs
you've been gone for a while now
but i am still remembering
i hope you smile when you think of these things
i think i saw you on the train the other day
and i gave you this awkward i-dont-know-if-you-see-me kinda wave
and your hair was much longer and you were wearing that orange backpack
that you carried all my books in when i was sick and high on cough syrup
you held my hand cuz i thought i might fall over
and it felt so warm even though i'd never been colder
so i guess i'll say that one cliche line
i hope you smile when i cross your mind

Dreamers Often Lie
02:36
|
|||
she gallops night by night
and she'll bring you dreams when you fall asleep
her wagon spokes made of spider legs
and she'll catch your dreams in her moonshine web
i dreamt a dream tonight
love's a tender thing
and dreamers often lie
under love's heavy burden do i sink tonight
the queen bringing visions to my lips and eyes

Drought of Sunshine
03:04
|
|||
on the green of the hill
we drink our fill of golden sunshine
till our brains intertwine
temper my lonely hours
and this drought of sunshine
when the soul is fled too high above our head
afraid will we gaze after its airy maze
but i am tiring, you are tiring
and we’re too young for these worries and this cryin’
and you shake me like salt over food
there’s too much and that’s too soon and it’s too good
when the soul is fled too high above our head
afraid will we gaze after it’s airy maze
too earthly you are for my sport
when we are handed to eagle’s claws when we are born
and the mother is wild over her infant child
our faces too were once heavenly and mild
but you bear me along
though the sights i scarce can bear
there’s only so much that we’ll ever learn to share
when the soul is fled too high above our head
afraid will we gaze after it’s airy maze

Small Lives
03:57
|
|||
we live small lives
under bright lights
that we're disguised by
and i don't recognize my own
my own
mother make me brave
i'll be grown before this tree is tall
this is the new world
we live in the new world
light make me new again
we are the fragile ones and so it is
we walked in the moonlight
you whispered my name once
i wanted to follow
but you're not there anymore
no you're not there anymore
and you don't even know who you are
lightning in the sky is feather light
come up for air now, you're dining with the wolves tonight
it's ok, it's alright, there are rainy endings to perfectly purple nights
i met you here like a lover, out of love
we both know it's over and it's done
come out from the covers, we were addicted to each other
fade fade faster
as quickly as you came
you're someone i used to know
and i still hear you whispering my name
my name

Wanderlust
03:00
|
|||
my feet are on the ground
but my head is in the clouds
looking for you for you for you
maybe we’re just made of the stuff that’s kind of strange
and this wanderlust this star dust
is stretching me too thin and so tall
stretching me too thin and so tall
now my eyes are the same size
as when i was born
shadows on the faces that used to be so clear
he said your untired eyes have been here for 1000 years
crawling out of skin
to keep it from caving in
all this glory glory glory
a yellow feather by my bed
to keep the devil from head
there’s a story story story
being pulled right out of these walls
i would never tell you that i look for you in the dark halls
and now my eyes are the same size
as when i was born
shadows on the faces that used to be so clear
he said your untired eyes have been here
for 1000 years
my feet are on the ground
but my head is in the clouds
looking for you for you for you
maybe we’re just made of the stuff that’s kinda strange
and this wanderlust this star dust
is stretching me so thin and too tall
it’s stretching me too thin and so tall
